In the history of Botz, we’ve only carried one coffee from Burundi. This truly is rather tragic, since they have some of my favorite Botz flavor and color combinations ever (keep reading to decipher Botz’s unique tasting practices).
While it’s impossible to singularly characterize a coffee’s flavor profile from Burundi (they can be quite complex), Botz tends to gravitate toward citrusy cups with a rich, syrupy and sweet backbones.
Personally, I’ve found that colors themselves are really powerful in helping tasters pinpoint flavors and their own memories associated with them. I know a handful of really insightful cuppers who start with colors and break them down into fruits (try this while tasting!).
Gaharo has been one of my favorite color/flavor combinations to date. The acidity of this coffee reminds me of rich orange (blood orange) and small bursts of red (cranberry). The sweetness flooded my mind with rich purple hues (dates). In combination, you get a prismatic and electric cup grounded by lots of sweetness. Bright, yet rich and fresh, yet syrupy - Gaharo is ready to fulfill all your coffee flavor desires.
