Variety: Pink Bourbon
Process: Washed
Shortly after 2001, Gatorade released the best flavor, in our opinion, to ever exist – Starfruit. It reminded us of kiwis, pears, and apples all pleasantly combining in the ultimate fruit wave. All our friends on our youth AAU basketball team preferred red, blue, or yellow Gatorade. For us, the pale green Starfruit reigned supreme. We understand, however, that the best things have ends. Therefore, when Starfruit was discontinued in 2002, we made an oath to keep its flavor in our memories forever. Luckily, when we really want to taste our favorite Gatorade flavor, we just roast Faver Ninco’s pink bourbons.
Faver Ninco’s pink bourbons have always captivated our taste buds because they showcase the Starfruit Gatorade flavor to us so apparently. In contrast to other pink bourbon profiles, we taste a mix of soft blueberry rooibos and fresh starfruit acidity and sweetness. Its essence is brilliantly cutting and crisp, and we can’t help compare the fruit sensation to some of the denser Bensa naturals in Ethiopia (think blueberry meets lime…incredible). In tandem with all this blue sweetness and kiwi-like pop, this pink bourbon option finishes custardy and flowing like an overtly sweet inside of a Cadbury Egg.
If we brew enough of this coffee, maybe Gatorade will do a special release to celebrate the best flavor ever. Do you believe, Botzonian?
