“SMASHHHHH!” We had done it. The Hertford boat crew had “bumped” the crew in front of us in our first round, thus getting us one step closer to achieving the eternal glory of having our names etched on our very own rowing oar trophy. We cheered as loud as BOTZ beans popping during first crack. Full disclosure and buzzkill – we got wrecked in the next round. While my British mates were rather bummed, secretly it didn’t matter to me. I knew there was an infinite premade jug of a magical elixir waiting upstairs in the boathouse for the race. It was my first time ever trying Pimm’s Cup cocktail.
Freshly botanical, richly fruity, and with a tad bit of spice, Pimm’s No. 1 reminds me of saturated fruit syrup. Add lemonade, mint, and a bit of strawberry and you’ve just created a Pimm’s cup cocktail.
It’s been years since I’ve had this given cocktail, yet when I cupped Calixto Quispe Mullisaca’s full bourbon lot, memories of its fruity and syrupy nature blasted into my CPU. It’s all red fruits all the time with a specific focus on saturated maraschino cherries. You may find yourself getting a few hints of minty spices and sweetness as the acidity blasts across the palate. The finish reminds me of cowtails texturally and flavor-wise (creamy with heavy caramel). With an effortless combo of rich red fruits and heavy sweetness, this bourbon lot is sure to become your daily starter!
