***[MARLON GESHA SCHEDULE - COFFEE WILL BE ROASTED 8/3. WILL SHIP BEFORE 8/7. 250 GRAMS.]***

BOTZonian, this past month will be remembered for many reasons in the BOTZ chronicles. We’re feeling an immense amount of gratitude due to your support and passion for beans. We were ecstatic to launch a new release full of new BOTZ pals and coffee personalities, but some warehouse complications (BEEP to all my roaster friends out there…) have changed our roasting timeline a bit before we beep and boop on some green bean adventures. So, we’ve decided to launch one last treat to hold you over until we get back. Oh, and did we mention it’s an all-timer?

The future is redefining humble swagger. We’ve never met Marlon or his brothers from The Three Coffee Farmers, (a farm project where brotherly love is making a splash…shout out to Emerson and Pedro as well), but we’ve experienced Marlon’s coffees blindly from numerous roasters and samples, and we can’t help but think of one word – SWAG…but with zero ostentatiousness or pretentiousness, just a quiet yet confident humility.

We remember asking Lucas at Unblended Coffee about the processing for this lot. Generally, there’s a certain tropical sensation we get with the best gesha lots with a bit of rested cherry fermentation. In our experience, this processing methodology is rather fragile. To hit it perfectly requires refinement, understanding, and tuning (like a roasting system). We read on Unblended’s information page that Marlon has been steadily refining and studying his processing methods. Things started to become clear when we learned more about his resolve and focus. We were so impressed by this gesha lot’s ability to ride the line of clarity and fruitiness. Often, a coffee can lean in either direction. When the flavors and sensations find harmony, chances are the coffee and, even more so, its nurturer are special. Curious, we called up Lucas to ask him if Marlon’s coffees’ personalities matched his own. Here’s what Lucas had to say.

“Soft spoken, a bit shy and humble, as I’ve come to know him. He’s very curious as he likes to talk about his coffees and the feedback they receive.” Lucas mentioned that he recently won Huila’s Aeropress Championship with a special water direct from his farm (can’t wait to try to recreate it…water fanatics out there, we’ll need your help, DM please). We’re excited to connect with Marlon further to learn about his aspirations, processes, and geek out on coffee (we won’t ask too many questions…BEEP LOL). Until we get the in-depth details, we’ll let his coffee speak (Dried pineapple rings are the Marlon signature for us with Banana Split Dippin ' Dots from Deep River…wave pool anyone?). A major thank you to Unblended for their professionalism, hustle, and kindness. Your energy is contagious and leans into passion, determination, and humility. We’re honored to roast this lot.
