I love “grape” flavored foods and beverages. Fierce Grape Gatorade, Grape Big League Chew, Grape Laffy Taffy…and the artificial grape flavor list goes on and on. Are these calculated grape flavors similar to real grapes or are they specifically designed to have us chug and adore them? I’m inclined to think it’s the latter.
“Fake Grape,” as I’ve come to call it, is one of my favorite flavors of all time (think ridiculously sweet and round with less tartness). I don’t know if it’s my genetics or if I was conditioned with frozen purple Gatorades while enduring 100-degree summer baseball games as a catcher, but personally, there is something undeniably thirst-quenching about “Fake Grape.”
Usually, I taste a coffee and it gives normal grape vibes, reminding me of my favorite PB & J’s, but tasting Roberto Figueroa’s 100% Pacas lot hit massively different. “Fake Grape” was prominent, thick, and sparkled, reminding me of my favorite Grape Crush fizz, tickling my taste buds. When its fizz settles, it transitions seamlessly with notes of vanilla, maple, and chocolate. After dialing this coffee in and inhaling multiple cups as fast as I would a case of Grape Crushes on a Friday at a Halo 2 LAN party, I’m absolutely convinced that this coffee will be a Botzonian favorite.
