Coffee and baked goods go hand in hand. But there is absolutely nothing better than when your coffee actually tastes like a baked good on its own.
Recently at the Botz shop, we’ve started making little “Pierogi Pies” (an ode to Whiting, IN) filled with fruity preserves, jams, and fresh fruit. One of my favorite fillings for these little pies is Oregon cherry preserves that are dense, tart, and sweet. Sitting snug inside a massively buttery crust, when you take a chomp, the warm cherry sweetness blasts your brain with a hit of dopamine.
Weeks ago, I was fortunate to have some little cherry pies left after the weekend when I decided to cup the initial sample of Birambo for purchase. During my cupping, Birambo tasted so eerily like cherries that I decided to do a bit of an experiment. I put a bit of cherry preserves in one spoon and some of my cupping liquid in another. I could be a bit biased, but they smelled and tasted almost identical. Botz Nye the Science Guy.
My experiment confirmed that this might be the most cherry-esque coffee Botz has ever offered. Some brewers have already nicknamed it “cherry bomb,” so you can only imagine this coffee’s explosive sweetness and personality!
